Tarot and the zodiac

Every zodiac sign is tied to one Major Arcana card and, through its element, to one of the four suits. That pairing comes from the Golden Dawn tradition the 1909 deck was drawn inside, and it is the shortest honest description of how a sign behaves in love.

Astrology and tarot were mapped onto each other by the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn in the late nineteenth century, and the 1909 deck was drawn inside that system — Waite was a member, and the deck follows its ordering. So the correspondences below are not a modern invention bolted on for content. They are the frame the cards themselves were built in. What each sign gets: one major card that names its lesson, an element that hands it a suit, and three minor cards that divide its month into ten-day decans. Other tarot schools assign differently, so read this as one strong tradition and not as the only one.
